The UMH offers a specific program that internally coordinates resources and capabilities to provide shelter for victims of the war. This way, refugees receive comprehensive assistance, and they are provided with initial care (psychological, legal, accompaniment) in addition to language and cultural immersion, and this enables them access to and incorporation into higher education and/or research groups with complete university immersion. This program includes:

MENTORING

This aspect consists in UMH student volunteers who accompany the mentored individual, helping him or her adapt to university life, to move around the campus, to manage academics, and become acquainted with Spanish culture and customs.

SPANISH LANGUAGE COURSES

The UMH offers Spanish courses to help displaced individuals learn the language, regardless of whether they are complete beginners or already speak some Spanish.

PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT

The UMH is supported by the CARES Center (Center for the Protection and Well-being of the Family, Childhood and Adolescence) at the Scientific Park to provide psychological and social assistance to refugee families and children.

LEGAL COUNSEL

The UMH, through its legal clinic, will provide legal guidance to Ukrainian refugees.

RECOGNITION FOR EDUCATION RECEIVED

The UMH, in accordance with guidelines and regulations established by the competent authorities, will apply the proper procedures for recognizing educational qualifications earned by refugees at their universities of origin for which they may not be in possession of the corresponding accrediting documentation.

UMH TUTORING

Once their education begins at the UMH, displaced people will be assigned a tutor from their academic program, with whom periodic meetings will be held for academic guidance and support.
